Art as a self-care practice

Artist with her sketchbook | Rim Creative Energy

Cancer season is upon us, a time for nurturing ourselves and cultivating emotional well-being. It's the perfect opportunity to prioritize self-care and invest in your cultivating your inner strength.

One of my favourite self-care practice is sketch-booking.

Keeping an art sketchbook is my yoga.

Just like yoga, it's a practice where I can relax, ground myself, connect to my heart and to my soul and explore my imagination.

I also see it as a connection between the earth, especially since I take a lot inspiration from observing nature, and connection with the dreamy, imaginary, spiritual realm.

It's like the earth and the sky together on the blank page.

It brings me so much happiness, joy, wellbeing, so much clarity as well, it's a great tool for self-care, a privileged moment I spend with myself.

Nurturing my inner child.

Whether you already have a sketchbook practice, or would like to start one, and would love some inspiration, here's a “Sketchbook tour” video I made.
In it I share my sketch booking routine and how I make art a part of my self-care practice.

And, by the way, do you also keep multiple sketchbooks, journals/notebooks, without finishing them?

I can never stick to one sketchbook at a time, so instead I use 3 or 4 sketchbooks at a time, and each has a different purpose!

I need variety and I love to explore different ways of expressing my creativity.
