Hi, I’m Rim

I’m a French and Tunisian artist currently traveling around the Mediterranean.

I have always been captivated by decorative arts from different cultures, a fascination that continues on in my work and eventually expanded to an exploration of the richness of the human experience.What began as a reflection on my multicultural upbringing across the globe blossomed into a lifelong quest to understand the beautiful complexities of our world.

As a bicultural human, who has lived in three continents, the question of contrasts and multiplicity profoundly affected me, guiding me to create drawings that invite us to explore imaginary landscapes, orchestrating a multitude of black graphic pattern-like detailing on backdrops of colorful abstractions.

Through rhythmical repetition of patterns in movement, I playfully create harmony from chaos.

I look into our planet and human nature with reverence, awe and an insatiable curiosity. Through my work, I also explore the interconnection between the wisdom of nature and the wisdom of our emotions. Both very diverse.

Thus, these dream-like and mysterious landscapes become the topography of our inner world, flowing on paper.

My art journey

I graduated from University of the Arts London and Duperré school of Art in Paris, in fashion design, innovative pattern cutting and textile weaving.

My art career began with a series of large scale textile artworks commissioned by Starbucks Reserve in China, combining techniques I gathered during 18 years as a fashion and textile designer.

Reuniting with my childhood love for drawing current body of work focuses on watercolor and black ink drawings on paper to reference and deconstruct urban and natural landscape elements, with forms and patterns derived from my observation of my environment.

My work is influenced by the graphic stylization of East Asian and North African decorative arts, as well as European botanical drawings.

I have exhibited at the Museum of Traditional Fine Arts, at Xintiandi Plaza in Shanghai, China, and at Les Abrets, France.

My personal journey

My life's been a vibrant exploration of self-discovery. I shed expectations, found my voice, and reignited creativity. This journey fueled my mission to create empowering tools and art that inspire others to do the same.

It all started in my 20s in London. Feeling creatively lost, I launched a handmade accessory business to reignite my spark. Years later, in Shanghai, a different fire ignited: empowering women through personal style. This led to tools that helped them express themselves authentically.

That insatiable curiosity fueled a journey filled with its own share of chaos and uncertainty. It was a dark night of the soul, a time when everything I thought I knew had to be questioned and rebuilt.

Back in my sun-drenched Mediterranean cradle, I've rediscovered a sense of childlike wonder here, under the warm sun and surrounded by the whispering waves. 

Nature's beauty, artistic expression, diving deep into my inner Mystic and a playful reconnection to my inner child became my healing tools.  Just like the phoenix rising from the ashes, I was able to transcend darkness and reconnect with my authentic self. 

I believe healing can be a joyful adventure, not a chore.  It's about reconnecting with the creative power of the cosmos that pulses within us all and grounding in the nourishing beauty of the Earth. 

By tapping into this universal creative energy, we can awaken our creativity, deepen our sense of purpose, and feel a profound connection to something bigger than ourselves.

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME

  • I have lived in Paris, Tunis, London, Shanghai, and I’m currently living in a small island (Djerba) in the Mediterranean

  • When I’m not creating and making things, I’m taking walks in nature, contemplating the sea and playing with my furry friends

  • I have 2 rescue cats - Twinkle and Luna, and 1 rescue dog - Confetti

  • I love all things 1920’s, and can be found dancing to the tunes of swing jazz whenever I can!
